There are so many different choices when it comes to injectable fillers these days...what are the differences, and which is one should you choose. While Radiesse, Juvederm and Restylane are all dermal fillers; Botox is a very different product and provides a different function then the fillers. Botox is used mostly to reduce those deep frown lines, or "11's" between your eyes. It is also used to eliminate the wrinkles in your forehead. It actually semi-paralyzes the muscles that contract to form the lines. You will most likley not see any signigicant change for 7 days, but you will then see the wrinkles disappear.
Juvederm and Radiesse are both dermal-fillers, but have different compositions. Juvederm is a gel-like substance that is injected just beneath the skin to fill out and reduce small to medium size wrinkles as well as some types of scars. These products are hyaluronic acid-based fillers Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the skin, keeping it soft and supple but diminishes as we age.
The hyaluronic acid in Juvederm fills out the volume of the face and attracts additional water to the area.
Radiesse has a different kind of composition but is also a dermal filler. Radiesse consists of microspheres of calcium in a water-based gel. This dermal filler works on more severe lines and wrinkles. These include the lines from nose to the curve of your mouth. The gel component helps fill out the lines while the calcium component actually stimulates the body to produce collagen. This double duty action means the results of Radiesse treatment can
last up to a year or even longer.
